Ownership & Export
Effective date: 12 August 2026 · Last updated: 12 August 2026 · Version 1.0
We built Lintel on a simple promise: your website is yours. This explains what that means in practice. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
1. You own your content
Everything you bring — your words, images, brand and ideas — stays yours. Using Lintel never transfers ownership of your content to us.
2. You own your site
The website created for you, including the generated code and design as delivered, is yours to use for any lawful purpose. This applies whether you built it yourself or our team built it for you.
Because sites are generated by AI, we cannot promise any output is unique, and similar briefs may produce similar results for different customers. We also cannot guarantee output is free of third-party rights — see section 8 of the Terms.
3. Exporting your site
You can export your site's files at any time from the builder. There is no lock-in: host the exported site anywhere you like. We do not charge for exporting, and we will not withhold it while an account is in good standing.
4. If you cancel
Your site stays live until the end of the period you have paid for. After your account closes you have 30 days to export, after which we may delete your sites and content from our systems, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Policy.
We recommend exporting a copy before you cancel.
5. The licence you give us
So that we can actually run the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and display your content — but only for the purpose of providing Lintel to you: generating your site, hosting it, backing it up and showing it to visitors.
This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, apart from copies held in routine backups until they expire. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not use it for marketing without asking you first.
6. Your domain
If you register a domain yourself, it is yours and you control it. If we register one on your behalf, we will transfer it to you on request, subject to any registrar rules and provided your account is settled.
7. Third-party components
Generated sites may include open-source or third-party components, such as fonts or code libraries, which remain governed by their own licences. These are generally permissive, but you should check before using a site commercially at scale.
8. Showing your work
We may like to feature sites built with Lintel as examples. We will always ask your permission first, and you can say no or withdraw permission later.
9. Questions
Anything unclear about ownership or exporting? Email support@lintelapp.co.uk and we will explain plainly.
